Through the ordinary eye, we observe just as a bowl of water but if it is observed through spiritual point of view, it depicts lots of significances. Being water one of the element of nature and cheap to afford, it is being offered to god.
The bowl should be kept with uniform gaps with the size of a barley grain. One should not over fill or under fill the bowls.
Bowl of water represents;
- First bowl- Water for Buddha to drink and to clean mouth or face
- The second bowl- Is to wash his feet or for taking a bath which symbolizes purification of our negative “KARMA”.
- Third bowl- Flower offering to god and also a fruit which signifies the beauty and flowering of enlightenment or opening of one’s heart.
- Fourth bowl- Incense to make beautiful smell to the Buddha signifying the morality ethics and discipline.
- Fifth bowl- Lamp which signifies the dispelling of all darkness of the mind, all ignorance. Ignorance in the sense of being ignorant or unaware of one’s true inherent Buddha Nature.
- Sixth bowl- It consists of perfume that can give good smell from the body. Perfume is offered to the Buddha’s mind and symbolizes the perseverance and joyful effort that is the heart of enlightenment.
- Seventh bowl- Sound/musical instrument assuming entertaining god with the musical instrument.
