Sarpang District consists of environmentally protected areas and its portion is largely covered by Royal Manas National Park. Far western contains part of the uninhabited Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary along the India border, Northern Sarpang is part of the Jigme Singye Wangchuck National park, Eastern and Southeastern lies within Royal Manas National Park. Sarpang is bisected by a wide swath of biological corridor connecting all three environmentally protected areas.the dominant language spoken is Nepali, an Indo-European language spoken by the heterogeneous Lhotshampa community.
Gelephu is the major town within the district and is an important border town with India. There is a Tsachhu (Hot spring) in Shershong, 15km away from Gelephu.
