Tsirang is noted for its gentle slopes and mild climates. The district is also noted ofr its rich biodiversity; however it is one of the few district without a protected area. One of the Bhutan longest river, Punatsangchu or Sankosh River flows through the district. The dominant language in Tsirang is Nepali spoken by the heterogeneous Lhotshampa.
The route to Tsirang from Wangduephodrang is quite scenic; one will see one of the largest hydro power projects in the country. The project is powered by the Punatsangchu that flows from Punakha district.
